Michelle Obama Attends LGBT Luncheon

"Radical" Russ, Autumn and I are attending the HRC/Victory Fund LGBT Delegate luncheon today. This is hosted by Barney Frank and sponsored by HRC and The Victory Fund.
When Russ and I dropped by the venue to pick up our media credentials, it was announced that Michelle Obama would be making an appearance at this event. This very public support and acknowledgment of the LGBT community during the convention is a clear sign that political change is in the wind. One of the other noticeable things about this luncheon is that it's the only one so far that is overbooked -- there are so many elected officials, activists and supporters of the LGBT community who turned out for this event.

by: Autumn Sandeen

A couple of really short interviews for y'all, blenders, from our Blend video files:
Shannon Minter, of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), responds to gender identity being included in the Democratic Party Platform, as well as talking about what it's like to be a female-to-male transgender man working on LGBT issues (he was the NCLR's key attorney who argued the freedom to marry case before the California Supreme Court, from which Californians won the freedom to marry).

Pam Covers the LGBT Caucus

It was a real zoo out there at the Denver Convention Center this afternoon, the venue for the LGBT caucus. Autumn and Terrance were able to get into first because they had the valuable credentials. I waited for Russ, who had the perimeter credential, to arrive from the Pepsi Center so we could swap out. He went off to film some additional fundies for you all, and there is a bumper crop out there -- abortion protestors, environmentalist anti-meat folks (some wearing pig costumes!), and a group of sad-sack John McCainiacs marching.
